Shinya Nakano-125ccm
Shinya Nakano start racing early as many other Japanese riders, riding pocket bikes. In age of eight, in 1985, he won Eastern Kanto Regional Pocket Bike Championship. Shinya Nakano started his 125ccm racing career in 1994, when he contested Kanto Regional SP125 Championship, and finished this season 3rd. In year 1995, Nakano entered All Japan 125cc National Championship, and finished his first season in this prestigeus championship 12th. In Following season, Shinya Nakano improved in Japanese 125 championship to 6th.

Shinya Nakano-250ccm
Shinya Nakano shown quick progress in 250ccm category, which seemed to suit his riding style very well. Nakano started racing in this category in 1994, in parallel to 125ccm racing, and made some great results. In this year, Nakano was 6th in Kanto Regional SP250 Championship, and became Suzuka Sunday Auto-bai Race SP250 Class Champion.
Shinya Nakano entered 250ccm All Japan 250cc National Championship in 1997 and finished his first season in 5th, just before taking championship title in 1998. In the same year, 1998, he made appearance in 250ccm world championship as wildcard in Japan.
Year 1999 was start of international career for Shinya Nakano, as he contested 250ccm world championship with Yamaha and finished his debut season as high as 4th, claiming rookie of the year title. In this season, Nakano got his first win in Japan, scored two second places in France and South Africa, and two third places, in Malaysia and Great Britain.
In his second year in 250ccm world championship, Shinya Nakano finished season as second, 7 points behind his Yamaha team-mate Olivier Jacque. In this season, Nakano scored 5 wins, 3 second places and 4 third places, making total 272 points in championship standings.

Shinya Nakano-500ccm
Swift progress of Shinya Nakano in 250ccm category of word motorcycle racing championship did not became unnoticed, so he got his chance to race in premier class of motorcycle racing, 500ccm, in year 2001. Nakano got his place in Yamaha Tech 3 team and finished his debut season as 5th, with total 155 points. In his debut 500ccm season, Nakano scored his first podium finish in Germany, and also took four 4th places. In this tough category of motorcycle racing, Nakano once more shown his consistency well known from his 250ccm racing, as he finished all races in season except one, in Czech Republic. All this was enough for Nakano to get Rookie of the year title.

Shinya Nakano-MotoGP
Year 2002 introduced four-stroke machines into MotoGP championship, and was year of struggle for Shinya Nakano, as he rode YZR500s almost whole year against powerful four strokes. At the end of the year, Nakano got Yamaha YZR-M1 for last few races, and was unable to fight for high placement, finishing season 11th with 68 points. One more fact that describes his struggle in this year is fact that he did not finished 6 races in this season.
Year 2003 saw Shinya Nakano getting back his consistency on YZR-M1, as in this season he finishes all races except one. Best result for Nakano is two 5th places, in Italy and Spain, and he finished this season in 10th place with 101 points.
Shinya Nakano moved into Kawasaki team in 2004, and made great success in his debut season on Ninja ZX-RR by taking 10th place in championship, on early stage of Kawasaki development. Magnitude of this achievement may be seen if you compare it to 2003, where Garry McCoy was 22th overall with Kawasaki. In 2004, Shinya Nakano managed to take first ever podium position for Kawasaki, by finishing 3rd on his home GP in Japan. In 2005, Shinya Nakano continues his MotoGP racing career with Kawasaki.
